Our Monastery of Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration was founded in Portsmouth, Ohio, in 1956. As the years went by, the Sisters were not growing in numbers and the Monastery began to decline as the Sisters grew older. Two Sisters from Mother Angelica's Monastery in Hanceville, Alabama came to bring new life to the aging community. After 7 years of working to improve the situation in Portsmouth, no doors were opening for the future of the Monastery. Then, through a surprising series of events, we were invited to re-found our Monastery in Charlotte, North Carolina. After much prayer and discernment, we petitioned the Holy See for permission to transfer. In March 2010, we recieved the permissions for our new beginning in Charlotte. We are currently living in a convent at St. Ann's Church in Charlotte, which will be our home until we are able to build a Monastery.
