Hit the refresh button on your browser if the buttons here do not show up. Our vocation as PCPA's is to the contemplative life. This means we do not have an active apostolate such as teaching or nursing, etc.. Our apostolate is prayer. This vocation gives us a unique way of belonging totally to God and of pouring out our lives in hidden sacrifice for everyone in the world. The enclosure is a loving guard that helps us to give our undivided attention to God, to live with Him alone in the depths of our hearts, and to contemplate Him on the heights of the "holy mountain". Our life of separation keeps us from the distractions of the world that would divert our attention from the continual oblation of self on behalf of souls.
Of course, the Cloister is a sacrifice for us, but Our Lord gives the grace to live this unique calling to those He has summoned to this life. In the words of Verbi Sponsa, "Just as in the Upper Room, Mary in her heart, with her prayerful presence, watched over the origins of the Church, so too now the Church's journey is entrusted to the loving heart and praying hands of cloistered nuns."
